To say that the first South Shreveport Cares event was a success would be an understatement. The event raised $31,000 for the Cedar Grove Friendship Houses.
In partnership with Community Renewal International, South Shreveport Cares united neighborhoods, churches and businesses at the Southern Trace Golf Club. The event, hosted by Paige Hoffpauir, brought together caring families for fun-filled day that included a 5K, jump houses, and games.
“The mission of South Shreveport Cares is to unite and make visible the caring people of South Shreveport in fun and fellowship and to focus our collective caring on impacting the Cedar Grove neighborhood by financially and prayerfully supporting CRI’s Friendship House initiatives currently restoring God’s hope and wholeness to the community of people there,” said Hoffpauir.
South Shreveport Cares would not have been possible without all of the volunteers and supporters that came out Saturday, April 12. A special thank you to Christus Schumpert for providing kid coaches for coordinating the fun activities for the kids.
Also, Kids Who Care, kids that live in Southern Trace, sold food and drinks, as well as, asked for donations for the Cedar Grove Friendship House where they raised $213! Cheerleaders from First Baptist, St. Joseph, Byrd, Loyola and the band from Evangel all did their part as well!
As the month of caring comes to a close, we can see how wonderful and caring our community is. No matter how big or small, anyone can help someone in need.
